Description

In June 2010, Allseas selected the Korean shipyard Daewoo to build the 382-metre-long "Pieter Schelte", a unique vessel capable of installing and removing large offshore platform topsides up to 48,000 tonnes, and jackets up to 25,000 tonnes, in a single lift. "Pieter Schelte" will make it possible to avoid modular installation and removal of platforms, significantly reducing offshore work and enhancing safety, while also protecting the marine environment in the process. Furthermore, the vessel will operate as a pipelayer with a holding capacity of 2,000 tonnes, doubling the capacity of the world's largest pipelaying vessel, Allseas' "Solitaire".
