React To The Future
Description
The sea-keeping behavior of fast ships has been intensively researched at the Ship Hydrodynamics Department of TU Delft over the past few decades. These studies have led to several innovative fast -hull form designs that are currently sailing across the globe.
This presentation will highlight new research developments that will be introduced to the market in the years to come. The presentation specifically deals with the use of active control mechanisms to prevent extreme accelerations in head waves or hazardous broaching behaviour in following seas. New proactive control strategies are presented that use incident wave information to determine the optimal settings for various control devices to enable a faster and safer ride
