Visit Brewery HERTOG JAN Arcen "For the love of beer"

Where better to meet for networking drinks, than at a brewery?

Brouwerij Hertog Jan

Hertog Jan Brewery

Reception
We meet across the street from the brewery, namely at Bier- en eetcafé de Hertog Jan Proeverij. The board of Mechanical Engineering Department will welcome you here with coffee/tea/fresh drinks. This atmospheric location serves fresh beer received from the brewery via an above-ground 'beer pipe'. This, of course, bodes well for the drinks.

After the drinks, we walk across the road to the brewery (about 50 metres).

Guided tour Hertog Jan Brewery
Founded in 1915, the brewery is located near a spring with very pure water: the main ingredient of beer. The brewery produces lager and several types of top-fermenting special beer following a long tradition, such as: Tripel, Dubbel and Janneke. From authentic copper brew kettles to an atmospheric cellar with bottles of Grand Prestige of various vintages. During the brewery visit, we follow the complete brewing and packaging process under the guidance of an experienced guide. You smell the hops, taste the malt and of course... the beer.

Drink
At the end of the tour, we walk back to Bier- en eetcafé de Hertog Jan Proeverij at our leisure and talk to each other during the networking drinks. If interested, join our board afterwards for a joint dinner at your own expense.

Accessibility
The tour of the brewery takes about an hour. The brewery is located in a beautiful old building. This implies that the tour goes along narrow and low passages and involves many steps (144 steps). Unfortunately, this makes the tour less suitable for people with mobility problems.

Participation from 18 years onwards. Control at the door, no refunds

To conclude

  • The board of Mechanical Engineering Department likes to connect with its members and organises this activity for that reason. Of course, our department is hospitable and we also like to welcome KIVI members from other departments;
  • This activity takes place in really beautiful surroundings with many places of interest nearby. You may be interested in extending our visit to the brewery into a weekend trip on your own. By combining it with an overnight stay and/or a visit to other interesting sights nearby, such as, for example, the Arcen Castle Gardens or National Park De Maasduinen;
  • Enjoy, but drink in moderation.
