Weir Minerals Netherlands is based in Venlo and is part of the mining division of the Scottish Weir Group plc. Around 400 people are employed in Venlo. Technologically high-quality industrial pumps and ore pulverisers are developed and produced here. The pumps and pulverisers are used in the mining, mineral processing, energy industry, waste processing and salt and process industries. 95% of the products are exported to countries outside Europe.
Contents of technical lecture:
Visitors will get an idea of the technologies deployed in the processing of ores into metals. This requires a whole range of machinery, which must work together in a system. Weir Minerals produces much of this machinery, with the Venlo site handling pumps and pulverisers. Beyond the purely technical aspects, the production process of these complex, customer-specific machines will be explained, and sustainability and environmental impact will be considered. Furthermore, the lecture will paint a picture of how Weir Minerals has developed from a supplier of products to a supplier of systems
