Swimming challenges engineers
Description
Swimming poses challenging questions for engineers. Can engineers make the difference, making this one of the building blocks on which we can build on the successes of the previous Olympics on our way to Rio.
Experimental facilities, Theory & Computational Mechanics and a pragmatic application form the three unit that can ensure this success.
All these three topics will be discussed in a varied and dynamic programme.
- 3 short lectures from VU, and TU's on hydrodynamics, 3D kinematics and propulsion measurements (1 hour)
- Demonstration experimental facilities in the InnoSportLab (1 hour)
- Case discussion (1 hour)
The KIVI NIRIA Mechanics and Sports Engineering Departments, together with InnoSportLab de Tongelreep, are organising this workshop in which engineers with knowledge and experience in these fields and enthusiasm for this challenge are invited to contribute to the selection and preparation of a case study.
