Description

On 25 November 2010, KIVI NIRIA, in cooperation with Hogeschool AVANS, is organising the offshore conference for the second time. At this event at the Hogeschool AVANS in 's-Hertogenbosch, speakers will include ir E. Heerema (director Allseas), ir D. Swart (team leader Dutch Hurricane Proof Solution Team) and ir P.D. Swart (project manager Shell). Other inspiring and prominent speakers will also show and experience the challenges at great depths.

OFFSHORE IN BRABANT
In September 2008, the AVANS University of Applied Sciences started the minor Offshore Engineering & Automation. The participation of more than 20 companies in this minor has been very successful for both student and company. Part of the programme is the Student Contest. This is a competition in which 40 fourth-year students showcase their projects through poster presentations.

KIVI NIRIA
KIVI NIRIA focused on the theme 'Sustainable Energy' in 2010. The Dutch offshore industry makes a major contribution to this theme. With this conference, the Offshore Engineering Department will showcase the challenges of mining energy at great depths.

DUTCH INGENIORS HELP BP
Team leader of the Dutch Hurricane Proof Solution team, Mr D. Swart, shows during this conference that working at great depths also involves risks. In the Gulf of Mexico, this risk culminated in a natural disaster. Together with his team, the KIVI NIRIA Mining Department drew up a number of recommendations to BP's management.

CHALLENGES AT GREAT DEPTH
Due to the growing demand for energy and the rising price of oil and gas in the long run, new technologies are constantly being developed to work at great depths. In this conference, leading companies highlight their challenging projects. The deeper the more complex.
