Description

On 14 October, the Gold Honorary Member of the Mining Society, Hans de Ruiter, will deliver a lecture at the 2015 'Staring' Lecture at the (old) Faculty of Mining at 120 Mining Street, underlining the close ties between Miners and Geologists. KIVI Mining is co-organising this special event, in collaboration with the Royal Geological and Mining Society/ KNGMG and the MV.

Hans de Ruiter will speak on the history of mining engineering education in Delft. The title of the lecture is 'Mining education - not "always so geweescht"'. Prior to the lecture, Drs. Michael van der Meer, director of Science Centre Delft and originally a geologist, will give a brief explanation of the Mineralogical-Geological Museum, which was reopened earlier this year.

We are therefore pleased to invite you to this special event, the entrance is from 15:00, including the possibility to visit the Mineralogical-Geological Museum. See the link below with further details and times. Please register via kngmg@kngmg.nl due to numbers. NB: the MGM can only accommodate up to 30 people at a time (so please arrive in good time).

Apart from this, you are hereby invited to become a member of the Mining Circle of the KNGMG, which will enable Miners to make a more prominent contribution (partly) within the KNGMG, and to strengthen cooperation between geologists and mining experts with further vigour, especially in these times when activities in 'the subsurface' are increasingly demanding accountability in the social debate. A registration form for the Mining Circle is attached herewith (please complete, sign, scan and send by mail). As you can see, as a member of KIVI Mining, you do not have to do it for the money (= free).

Please return the form to: mijnbouw@kngmg.nl.
