The Macondo Blow-out
Description
On 20/21 April last, a 'blowout' in the Gulf of Mexico caused an environmental disaster of major proportions. Intensive efforts by oil company BP have so far had limited results.
With its extensive knowledge and experience in Exploration & Production (E&P) and Offshore operations, the Mining Section of KIVI NIRIA and the Mining Association would like to call on all its members and interested parties to join in thinking about how to solve this unprecedented problem in the shortest possible way.
To this end, a joint brainstorming will be held on Friday 2 July on how Dutch Mining and Petroleum Engineers and other interested parties can make a contribution, however large or small, to assist in this grand challenge in contemporary oil and gas history.
