How do you design for more than 100,000 years?
New research on final disposal of radioactive waste.
Speker: Ewoud Verhoef, Plv.director COVRA.
COVRA, the Central Organisation For Radioactive Waste, launched a new research programme on final disposal of radioactive waste last November 4. Ewoud Verhoef, COVRA deputy director, explains why it is necessary and how to design a final repository for radioactive waste for more than a hundred thousand years.
What exactly is radioactive waste, how much do we have and where does it come from? What are the options for managing it safely? How is this being researched internationally and what will COVRA investigate in its programme?
In less than one hour, you will be completely updated on research into radioactive waste disposal.
