Award Ceremony / Block 31 - PSVM Project
Description
On 18 April next, Jan Vugts will announce on behalf of the jury (which in addition to himself consists of: Wim Jolles, Jo Pinkster, Peter Tan and Wim Vlasblom) will announce which of the candidates listed below has been awarded the Prize for the Best Graduation in Offshore and Dredging Technology 2013. After the presentation, the winner will give an explanation of his graduation report.
Five candidates have been nominated:
- Meinte van der Brug (Challenges in the design of an Arctic exploration drillship)
- Chris Keijdener (Dynamics of JBF Arctic drilling unit moored in ice)
- Lars Jacobs (Sand Erosion in Cold Heavy Oil Production with Sand)
- Olaf van Schalkwijk (A mooring chain fatigue assessment, including a method to incorporate out-of-plane bending for a selected LNG export facility concept)
- Solange van der Werff (Dynamic Positioning in Ice)
The graduation topic should fit into the subject area, as defined by the Offshore and Dredging Engineering section of the Marine & Transportation Technology department of the Faculty of Mechanical, Maritime & Materials Engineering (3mE).
The presentation will be followed by Heerema's lecture on "Block 31 - PSVM Project"
The Block 31 - PSVM Project is Heerema Marine Contractor's largest project to date. The project covers the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of BP's Angolan deep water development programme. The development is named after four fields Plutao, Saturno, Venus and Marte and comprises 48 wells which are expected to recover 533 million barrels of oil during the licence period. Heerema executed below scope of work for this project: 108 km of pipelines and risers, 77 subsea structures, piles driven at 2030 m water depth, 6,169 offshore pipe welds produced and total weight installed over 50,000 t
