Description

Lecture evening on the topic:'Crane ship Oleg Strashnov - A purely Dutch product'

In 2005, Gusto B.V. of Schiedam was invited by Seaway Heavy Lifting of Zoetermeer to work with them to develop a large crane ship. The resulting design package was used by SHL for an international tender process, from which IHC Merwede successfully emerged as the main contractor to build the vessel at their IHC Krimpen Shipyard, with Gusto Projects B.V. acting as the supplier of the 5000-tonne crane.
The lecture will cover design of the vessel and crane and its construction all together. It will be a story about an extraordinary offshore vessel, with the added special feature that it has become a purely Dutch product.

N.B.
KIVI NIRIA, in consultation with the owner SHL and the shipyard, also has plans to organise an excursion to the vessel in the finishing phase. Separate announcements will be made about this.

Speaker(s)

Alain Wassink, Senior Naval Architect at Gusto B.V., Ronald van Son, Head of Project Management at IHC Merwede and Jelle van Dam, Project Engineering Manager at Gusto Projects B.V.
