Description

The RDM Centre of Expertise of Hogeschool Rotterdam, on behalf of the HBO Offshore Network, cordially invites you to the symposium 'Successful cooperation HBO Offshore: Education - Research - Practice' on Thursday 13 November 2014.

Theme
Better linking education to the labour market is a spearhead of the government. The Centres for Innovative Expertise (for MBO) and the Centres of Expertise (for HBO) ensure this. Entrepreneurs, scientists, teachers and students work together in these centres. The RDM Centre of Expertise (CoE) is attached to Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, with the port of Rotterdam as its spearhead. RDM CoE promotes the quality of technical college education. Also for the offshore sector, where there is a great need for innovation.

The RDM CoE focuses on cooperation between education, applied research and practice. That is why, for example, the mechanical engineering programme of Hogeschool Rotterdam works with RDM CoE and the RDM Knowledge Centre on innovations for the offshore within the minor Offshore & Constructions. Practical research plays an important role in this. The outcomes of this type of research are fed back to industry and education.

But how do you realise a successful collaboration between education, research and practice? And what is successful? What is needed for this from education and from participating knowledge centres and companies? What practical examples are there of successful collaboration? And finally, what is the benefit for all participants in this collaboration? During the symposium, these questions will be addressed from various angles.

HBO Offshore Design Award
During the afternoon programme, small groups of students, company employees and (research) teachers will compete against each other in the
'Design the Offshore Vessel & Equipment for 2025' competition for the HBO Offshore Design Award. The eponymous 'Offshore Vessel & Equipment for 2025' is a programme launched within the RDM Centre of Expertise's Community of Practice Maritime & Offshore. During the drinks reception, the assessment and award ceremony will take place.
