Description

Lecture evening on the subject: Heavy cargo vessel Dockwise Vanguard.

Dockwise recently awarded HHI in Korea the contract to build the largest semi-submersible heavy cargo vessel Dockwise Vanguard. A unique vessel, which will provide transport capabilities for future generations of offshore production platforms.
The Dockwise Vanguard is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2012 and will then be by far the largest vessel in the global semi-submersible heavy cargo vessel market. Thanks to its unique shape, it also has the ability to carry extremely long cargoes. This innovative design is particularly notable for its side-mounted accommodation and the absence of a conventional bow, which allows optimal use of the deck area. The cooperation with Dutch Flag and DNV as classification society resulted in a design process in which, through direct calculations and risk analyses, a very safe and multi-purpose ship was created.
Due to her enormous capacity of 117,000 DWT, which is one and a half times as much as the largest heavy cargo vessel at the moment, the 'Blue Marlin', and the consistent incorporation in the design of years of experience in the transport of large offshore structures, in terms of construction, propulsion and ballast systems, one can rightly speak of a revolutionary vessel that is way ahead of its time
