Lecture evening on the topic: Passionate about Pipelaying - Development of tailor-made pipelaying systems from first principles.

Engineers from IHC Engineering Business will lead the audience from their background in trenching and deck equipment through the design, build and integration of a range of pipelaying systems. Utilising the Saipem FDS2 J-lay tower as a case study the presentation will describe the key technical challenges and the engineering tools and approaches developed to allow delivery of the innovative Pipelay system. Fatigue assessment, safety integrity level control system and weight management approaches will be described.
Leading from the first half of the presentation, the second talk will highlight the advantages of an integrated approach to not only the pipelaying equipment but integration to the vessel. IHC is currently focused on developing a truly integrated Pipelay vessel and the benefits of system optimisation will be described for customer, supplier and shipyard
