The Platform lifting vessel "Pieter Schelte"
Description
Lecture evening with the topic "Allseas' platform lifting vessel "Pieter Schelte".
In June 2010, Allseas commissioned the Korean shipyard Daewoo to build the 382 m long "Pieter Schelte", a unique vessel that will be able to install or remove superstructures (up to 48,000 tonnes) or substructures (up to 25,000 tonnes) of large offshore platforms in one piece. The vessel will be delivered by the end of 2013.
The vessel will make modular installation or removal unnecessary, minimising operations offshore, and best serving safety and the environment.
The vessel will also be a pipe-laying vessel with a holding capacity of 2,000 tonnes, surpassing the world's largest pipe-laying vessel, "Solitaire".
Allseas focuses mainly on pipe-laying and has four specialised vessels for this purpose. The company has always been at the forefront of the technical field; all concepts have been developed entirely in-house. "Lorelay" was the first dynamically positioned pipelay vessel, setting the tone 25 years ago for all pipelay vessels built in the world thereafter
