Floating liquefaction of natural gas or Floating LNG (FLNG) has captured the public imagination ever since Shell announced its decision in May 2011 to progress with the first implementation of this technology in the development of the Prelude field offshore Australia. The concept is simple and attractive; the LNG facilities are located directly over the offshore gas resource rather than processing and piping the gas long distances to onshore liquefaction facilities.
This presentation will discuss the development of technical solutions for Water Intake Risers covering alternative concepts considered, material selection and maturation of the selected bundled riser concept
