On Tuesday 8 April 2008, IRO, in cooperation with KIVI NIRIA, is organising a company visit to Westfalia Separator Mineral Oil Systems in Oelde (Nordrhein Westfalen-Germany).

Westfalia Separator has been a manufacturer of high G-force centrifuges for more than 100 years, which in addition to their application in the Oil & Gas industry are also used in the marine, food, pharmaceutical and industrial sectors. Westfalia Separator has many references worldwide in the Oil & Gas sector. Westfalia Separator's head office is located in Oelde (Germany). This location is also where the "specials" are produced. In addition to this production location, there are two other production sites, namely: Niederahr (production of decanters) and Chateu Thierry (production of standard oil separators).

Applications in Oil & Gas industry include:

Upstream:
- Cleaning crude
- Extracting oil from (produced) water
- Drilling mud cleaning
- Slopwater cleaning Fuel/oil treatment (including crude burning)

Downstream:
- Cat fines recovery/removal
- Slopoil treatment/recovery
- MEG cleaning

Westfalia Separator is an innovative company. One example is the ODB 260, the world's largest centrifuge capable of extracting water from heavy crude at high capacity.

This day offers you the unique opportunity to learn about centrifuge technology, take a look behind the scenes and see how the centrifuges are produced.
An extensive factory visit is an important part of this day.
