Engineers decide rationally, or not?
Description
Engineers have a reputation for being rational in technical decisions. However, closer analysis reveals that, usually without realising it, they apply values that detract from optimality. These professional values are revealed in 15 cases, mainly in industrial production.
The introducer is curious about similar experiences in other subfields. Perhaps this could lead to a common (negative) professional values ethic, which could help engineers avoid suboptimal decisions.
