(Nano-)technology and thinking about being human, being natural, being like God.
Nanotechnology carries many promises of a medical and pharmaceutical nature, for example, and also raises ethical questions about possible toxicological consequences, for example.
But there is also another type of questions raised by the emergence of this technology. Indeed, nanotechnology can have profound effects on matter, on life, on the mind. No wonder that this evokes fascination and trepidation, and with it questions of a philosophical or even theological nature.
In the lecture, the speaker wants to reflect on these reactions (which in part also relate to technology tout court) and in particular on the references to nature and naturalness, to the nature of our humanity in relation to nature and culture, as well as on the reference to God that often resounds in the anxious question as to whether we are not 'playing God' by intervening in reality in this way.

CONTENTS
The hall will be open from 18:30 for free coffee or tea and a social chat.

Given the interest in the topic, potential interested parties other than from the Philosophy & Engineering Department are also invited. However, the room capacity is limited to 30 places.
Due to this limited room capacity, I would ask you to pass on registrations of participation until Tuesday 15 June at the latest.

Make the effort to attend an evening of the Philosophy and Engineering Department, or bring an interested person along!

We hope to see you there!
