Lecture by Ms Beate Roessler (+ ALV)
Description
This is also the second meeting of the annual theme "Are the devices taking over?"
We live in a society where the ideas of both privacy and anonymity are constantly changing, shifting. Is there such a thing as a right to privacy? And why do we actually value privacy so much? In her lecture, the speaker explores the connection between privacy and anonymity and seeks an answer to the question of why we have and should have an interest in both.
The meeting starts at 17:30 (ALV) and 19:00 (lecture) in a room at the Vergadercentrum Vredenburg 19 in Utrecht. From Utrecht CS station hall, walk through the entire passage through Hoog Catharijne towards the city centre. When you arrive at the square, the Meeting Centre Vredenburg 19 is on your left, above C & A. When you get down, walk diagonally left along the walls of the building site, the square and the street (Vredenburg) have to be crossed. On the ground floor, there is only an entrance hall with lifts and a notice board with the hall number, to the left of the C & A windows, next to the shoe shop Breugel. Directions on the website listed below. Parking facilities include NH hotels. The hall will be open from 17:15 for free coffee or tea and a social chat.
Given the interest in the topic, potential interested parties other than from the Philosophy & Engineering Department are also invited. However, the room capacity is limited to 30 places.
Due to this limited room capacity, please pass on registrations of participation until Tuesday 14 April at the latest.
Make the effort to attend an evening of the Philosophy and Engineering Section, or bring an interested person along!
We hope to see you there!
The General Membership Meeting will be held from 5.30pm to 6.15pm. The agenda is broadly as follows:

2. Minutes of the AGM of 22 May 2008
3. Filling secretary position, installation of ir Wout Loeve, now wnd. secretary, by ALV
4. Secretarial annual report
5. Financial annual report
6. Report of the Audit Committee and decision of the ALV
To those who register, the available documents will be sent by e-mail by our secretary, w.loeve@ziggo.nl, in any case they will be ready for the meeting. See also the F&T website.
If you have certain wishes or ideas, you can send them to the board members by e-mail, for example. Depending on the possibilities, other activities for the members of our department may still take place. A board member/programme maker from the scientific world of Philosophy and Engineering, who can help put together the programme, would greatly strengthen our board!
