Come into the greenhouse
Description
On Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 April 2017, "Kom in de Kas" will be organised for the 40th time. This takes place in the horticultural area of Amstelveen, also part of Greenport Aalsmeer and the Amsterdam metropolitan region.
KIVI's Sustainable Technology Department (DT) wants to use this opportunity to give a presentation at one of the nurseries to highlight transition from ornamental horticulture to climate adaptive crops. The 2015 Paris Climate Agreement has reminded us of the need to use less energy and absorb more CO2 to limit global warming.
The greenhouse at Meerlandenweg 65 shows how a new concept for circular economy with plants and biobased raw materials is emerging within the Greenport. Plant growth on climate substrate and a water cycle with biological nutrient supplements allowing plants to evolve faster.
It also explains how quality forestry around metropolitan areas according to new MyEarth principles can contribute to a better living environment and production of lots of biomass to become less dependent on polluting coal-fired power plants and produce bio-based products.
Upon arrival, please collect the programme booklet.
