Global description company
Yara Sluiskil is the largest production plant of the Norwegian company Yara International, which has operations in 52 countries worldwide. Yara Sluiskil makes nitrogenous fertilisers and industrial chemicals, such as Air1 and NOxCare that can capture harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx). Yara Sluiskil also producesCO2 for the bubbles in soft drinks and beer, as well as dry ice on which, for example, vaccines are stored or delivery ofCO2 as a growth substance in greenhouse horticulture. The raw materials Yara uses are natural gas (methane), air and water. Solids such as dolomite rock and gypsum serve as fillers for the fertiliser granules and contribute to soil improvement.
Through precision farming, Yara's high-quality crop nutrients can increase crop yields and improve product quality while reducing environmental impact. This offers added value for both the farmer and the entire food chain. Yara's mission is simple but ambitious, namely: to responsibly feed the world and protect the planet.
The Sluiskil site is home to plants that are among the best in the world in terms of safety, energy efficiency and reliability. Every year, 5 million tonnes of finished product are shipped, of which more than 80 per cent via ships. With its extensive knowledge, international network and over 100 years of experience, Norway's Yara is in a unique position to address one of the greatest challenges of our time - sufficient healthy, affordable and safe food for all. Sustainability is an integral part of the core strategy. By offering solutions both agronomic (fertilisers) and environmental (NOxCare), Yara creates economic opportunities for itself and its supply chain partners, while directly contributing significantly to a cleaner environment.
