LTE or 4G has just been made available in the Netherlands, but the mobile industry is already thinking about 5G, a new generation of mobile networks that will handle the growth in data traffic from 2020. This evening provides an overview of the road to 5G and initial ideas on applications that will increasingly lie in the Internet of Things, including in the car-to-car communication domain that places special demands on the availability and latency of communication systems

Anne will discuss LTE-Advanced, which enables mobile data speeds of up to 150Mb/s in Korea, and other extensions and new applications of 4G.
19:30 "5G - new challenges for industry and research, but who are the challengers?" by Erik Fledderus (Principal scientist Network, Information and Communication Technology at TNO and part-time professor at TU/e)
Erik outlines the requirements that new application areas will place on 5G and the research themes that are important for this.

Maurice talks about the future of Intelligent Transportation Solutions and the first proof of concept projects in this area.
