Emergency Communication
Description
Fast and adequate communication with citizens in emergency situations is vital. Thanks to the possibility of Cell Broadcast, citizens in a certain area can be better alerted and informed about an (imminent) calamity, complementing already existing instruments such as sirens, TV, radio, and internet. The first two lectures provide insight into how this becomes possible, and the technical challenges in terms of standardisation.
With 112 emergency calls, it is extremely important to know as quickly and as precisely as possible the location, from where this call was made. Every second counts. The last presentation will give an overview of possible location techniques for calls via the mobile network, and the situation in Europe and the Netherlands.
Afterwards, the general members' meeting (ALV) of the NERG will take place
