Description

Is the Netherlands innovating successfully in the field of telecommunications? Which research fields at the three TUs will potentially lead to a leading position within Europe? What is the applicability, the market value, of these research fields? Is telecommunication research within the Netherlands still alive?

On Thursday 14 May, you will be able to discuss all this with fellow interested parties when you visit KIVI NIRIA Telecommunications' Innovation Event, this year at TU Eindhoven. Besides excursions to some departments and a lecture by the TU, this event consists of three lectures by PhD students who have been identified by their TU as the best in the field of Telecommunications. You will get a good insight into the innovations within telecommunications programmes as developed by our Technical Universities, based on their applied research. These PhD students are candidates for the KIVI NIRIA Telecommunications Prize 2009 and after their nominations, an independent jury will determine the winner of the prize. Finally, during the Innovation Event there will be plenty of room to exchange views with fellow visitors and students about which innovations are really important for the Telecommunications industry in the Netherlands. To this end, a marketplace has been set up where the various studies will be thematically discussed while enjoying a snack and a drink.

The aim of the KIVI NIRIA Telecommunications Award is to put the telecommunications sector in the Netherlands in the spotlight, with special emphasis on the importance of applied research in telecommunications. Each TU has nominated a candidate whose doctoral research or study is the best candidate for this.
