Description

Until 1 January 2009, the GSM frequencies were exclusively available to the 3 operators in the Netherlands, Since 1 January 2009, the Directorate of Energy and Telecommunications (DGET) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has released the so-called guardband for general use, The guardband is a part of the GSM band that was not used because of uncertainties about possible interference between GSM and the adjacent DECT band. The consequence of the decision to release this band is that companies can build their own GSM business network based on so-called Picocells. This offers interesting new opportunities. On this lecture evening, we will take a closer look at the application of this technology.
