Security
Once again, the attention given to the Security theme on 8 March proved to meet demand.
Around 80 interested people from KIVI and TSOC were able to listen to three speakers from the field of Internet security, but even more fun was actively engaging in the discussion.
On several occasions, the board has tried to have the topic highlighted from multiple points of view, and conflicting opinions are not avoided.
The first speaker gave the helicopter view, more insight into how a (legal) framework is set from governmental roads and how the various interests have to be weighed up in it.
Nice to see that the second speaker actually went into human behaviour.
The metaphor of the Night Watch was used to make strict security seem balanced with cultural perception.
Finally, ING gave an insight into what all a bank has done to prevent fraud.
Technology was shown to be of secondary importance - for engineers, of course, separate to hear. Reality though, the main concern was 'money asses'.
A very successful event.

Description
Security, and especially Internet or Cyber security, is a hot topic that concerns end-users as well as companies and governments. Reason for the Telecommunications Department to highlight a number of aspects.
First of all, Eelco Stofbergen will outline in general terms what - and how big - the problem is and what the role of the government is in ensuring digital security.
Jelle Niemantsverdriet will talk about what we can learn from other areas when analysing and solving security issues.
Finally, Jan Joris Vereijken will discuss the Security aspects of Internet banking. Besides technology, including malware and viruses, understanding the psyche of the computer criminal is essential to prevent fraud and economic damage.
Of course, there is plenty of room for interaction with the speakers.
