Social media for private and business
Description
Social media are everywhere. Beginning with Hives, Facebook and Twitter as an addition to our social lives, today companies are also ubiquitous on social networks. The virtual line between work and private is blurring and the number of application areas is growing and growing. But how does it work? What can you achieve with social media? How can you ensure a good balance between transparency and privacy protection? How can social media be optimally used for marketing purposes and customer service?
On this lecture evening, we will give a broad overview of applications of social media for personal use and for business purposes.
Anyone who talks about 'social media' today mainly mentions Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. However, there is more than that. Rob Coers gives an overview of the many possibilities that other 'social services' have to offer us. The online learning programme 23 Things, developed by Rob, encouraged many people to gain knowledge and experience with social media.
Robert Vos talks about his interest in new media, his search for knowledge for his work, his way of profiling and making a name for himself by sharing knowledge and following discussions, and privately even more so by staying in touch with people he does not see on a daily basis.
Ferdinand Knol followed the MBA module Business Process and Technology, focusing on quickly finding the right and available knowledge within the organisation to solve problems at our customers. In doing so, he looks at what role social media can play in this. The idea behind it is that by finding the right people quickly, the chances of winning the contract with a customer go up.
Christian Elferink, Sales 2.0 Manager at NEXOR, gives his view on how companies could use Social Media to retain customers and find new channels and prospects.
