Telecom Infra Event 2020

During this online edition, webinars from Dirksen Training, Rohde & Schwarz, VodafoneZiggo, Calnex (on behalf of CN Rood), SPIE and the closing panel discussion focused on 5G, private mobile networks and the indoor antenna network (DAS). The webinars on 5G covered the improvements over 4G, the new opportunities for the industry, recent use cases, site testing and the challenges for small cell performance testing (Femto, Pico or Macro).

The associations FHI and BTG jointly organised a panel discussion on mobile private networks. This session is a follow-up to the Telecom Infra 2019 panel discussion, where it was already predicted that these networks would play a major role in the future.

With three relevant speakers from mobile provider Nokia; supplier/integrator MCS and the Municipality of Almere; smart city department, the options, pros and cons and rationale for implementing different forms of private mobile networks and services were explored.

Over the two days, over 300 viewers attended the event, spread across the various sessions. Most of the webinars were streamed 'live' from the new studio at FHI, as well as from Germany and the UK.

The Telecom Infra event is the platform for up-to-date information on mobile networks and telecom infrastructure. On 22 and 23 September 2020, FHI is organising a digital edition of the event.

This event is the platform for up-to-date information on mobile networks and telecom infrastructure. For more information, see the Telecom Infra event 2020 website.

Like previous editions, the digital Telecom Infra event will also focus on providers/operators, installers, building owners and various technical market areas in which telecom infrastructure is used.

Through webinars, several exhibitors will show how to make the most of the great diversity of telecom technology.

Vodafone Ziggo gives plenary lecture at digital Telecom Infra event on concrete b-to-b applications of 5G

NB3.1

The lecture will be given on Tuesday 22 September at 11.30 by Jan Willem de Beaufort, Strategy manager of Vodafone Ziggo. In his presentation, he will discuss the differences between 4G and 5G, services for sectors (verticals), concrete applications, future plans 5G, edge computing and network slicing.

Network slicing is dividing network capacity across multiple users with different bandwidths. This allows higher bandwidths to be used for critical applications.

Edge computing involves storing critical data locally and close to the end user. This requires less network capacity and increases privacy and data security.

Professionals talking about Private mobile networks

It is impossible to imagine daily traffic - and especially numerous business processes - without mobile communication. This form of communication is mostly used by mobile network operators, but private mobile networks also make use of it.

NB3.2

In the Netherlands, separate spectrum is even available for this purpose; which has already led to numerous private GSM and LTE systems in recent years. Think of large-scale use in ports and smaller-scale use within healthcare institutions.

A mobile service or private mobile network serves the processes within companies and institutions, but can also be opportune for smart city applications.

On Wednesday 23 September at14.00, the panel discussion will start with Bas Piek, Commercial director MCS Benelux; Brian Benjamin, Programme manager digital city and innovation Municipality of Almere and Dirk van Bree, Account CTO Head of Global Cable Practice Nokia. Koen Mioulet from BTG will lead the discussion. In this discussion, we will discuss options, the pros and cons and explore the rationale for implementing different forms of private mobile networks cq services.

DAS an enrichment for Smart Building

NB3.3

Smart Buildings are the link between the fast-paced IT world and traditional building systems in today's era. By combining the two, we gain insights into several data that add value for the investor, tenant and facility management.

Resulting in satisfied users in efficient and flexible buildings. However, bringing the IT world and traditional buildings together brings new challenges. For this, SPIE deploys the DAS as multifunctional infrastructure; the DAS beyond telecom.

Sign up for a free visit to Spie's Geert Nysingh's presentation: DAS an enrichment for Smart Building. You can follow the presentation on Wednesday 23 September from 13.00 online.
