Death or gladiolas for IPv6
Description
The IANA distributed the last IPv4 blocks to regional Internet Registries in February. This means that there are now no more IPv4 blocks available at the global level. The five regional registries, like RIPE NCC in the case of Europe, distribute the remaining available addresses to internet and hosting providers. The fact is that the end of IPv4 addresses is in sight. However, for the end user, the effects are not yet visible. Will IPv6 finally see the light and change the internet for good? A look into the crystal ball...
In this evening's lectures, we will discuss the current state of affairs regarding the transition to IPv6, followed by a look ahead to the situation in the year 2015. Finally, we will describe how we can create an opportunity to continue communicating based on IPv4
