Former KPN chief Wim Dik passed away on Sunday. The 83-year-old Helvoirten man had been ill for some time. Dik was 1989 to 2000 the first chairman of the board of directors of Koninklijke PTT Nederland (KPN). His main task was to transform the former state-owned company into a successful listed company.

Dik also held other jobs in business. Among others, he worked for Unilever and was director of soup factory Unox. After leaving KPN, he was a professor in Delft.

Dik was also closely involved in D66. Among other things, he was vice-chairman of that party and chairman of its scientific bureau. He was also very active for D66 in Vught, including in the merger of Helvoirt and Vught.

A farewell to Wim Dik was held on Monday 27 June at 1pm in the Nicolaaskerk in Helvoirt.
