Costs and benefits of participation in European Rail R&D programme Shift2Rail
Invitation webinar on 29 April, from 16h to 17h30, organised by KIVI Rail Systems and Scope, the network for young professionals within Strukton.
The webinar is free of charge.
Costs and benefits of participating in the European Rail R&D programme Shift2Rail
Strukton Rail was the only Dutch company to co-initiate and actually participate in the pan-European Shift2Rail project. That project has been running since 2010, what did it cost Strukton in terms of effort and what did it yield, financially, image but especially in terms of technical innovations.
We will first discuss the reason and motivation for participating in such a grand concept, first in terms of its structure and political desirability, and then in terms of the actual implementation and prioritisation of the research programme. Then how these research projects are strategically aligned with Strukton Rail's own development agenda. Of course also how the projects are staffed and what efforts that entails, but also with which global and niche players you all come into contact during such a programme.
Then we go into depth, picking out one or two technical developments from the broad programme and highlighting the underlying technology. Then what the opportunities are for these in the Netherlands and abroad.
Finally, we take stock of what it has cost in terms of effort and what it has yielded in material and immaterial terms. And perhaps also a look ahead to what comes next.
This webinar is organised by the KIVI Rail Systems department, part of the Royal Institute of Engineers, together with Scope, network of young professionals within Strukton. Scope connects young professionals from all layers of Strukton's operating companies, makes them visible and offers development opportunities. Knowledge broadening and the social aspect are central to this. This webinar is an opportunity for them to get acquainted with both KIVI and the Rail Systems department, giving them an idea of what a technical association in this highly complex technical sector can offer young professionals.
