Safety Board in rail
Description
The first part of the presentation consists of an explanation of the Dutch Safety Board. This will cover, besides the organisation itself, its task, scope of work, instruments and powers and working methods. The position of the Dutch Safety Board in relation to other bodies that investigate accidents (such as inspectorates and police/judiciary) will also be discussed.
The second part of the presentation will focus on the activities of the Dutch Safety Board (and its predecessors SOR and RvTV) in the rail sector. The role of National Investigation Body and the duty to investigate certain rail accidents will be explained. An overview will also be given of the main rail accidents investigated by SOR, RvTV and OVV over time and what aspects have been covered.
The third part of the presentation will explain the Council's last three rail investigations. These are the accidents at Muiderpoort, Barendrecht and Stavoren respectively.
