Interfaces of Future Railway Mobile-Communication System (FRMCS), 5G and IoT and its applications
On Tuesday 29 June, the Rail Systems Department of KIVI (Royal Institute of Engineers) is organising the activity "Intersections of Future Railway Mobile-Communication System (FRMCS), 5G and IoT and its applications" which is being organised by the rail operator ProRail.
The communication standard GSM-R will be replaced by FRMCS (Future Railway Mobile Communication System). During this activity, Jos Nooijen (ICT Architect) will take you through the developments of FRMCS and 5G from his years of expertise. Via the 5G roadmap, the link will be made to the next theme: Internet of Things(IoT).
Railway manager ProRail has drawn up a vision for monitoring its assets and elements in the rail infrastructure. This will make use of existing data sources and new data sources from (IoT) sensors that will be connected to the ProRail Monitoring Platform. This IoT application is being equipped on a wider scale at sidings and will be presented by Marcel Gerrits (Project Manager Innovation and Technological Renewal).
During the presentation, using practical examples, Marcel will discuss how ProRail handles the development of sensor applications, the communication of the sensors to the ProRail domain and the business value of the sensor applications.
KIVI Department of Rail Systems cordially invites you to gain insight into these great applications!
