Platform Railsystemen is organising an interesting study trip for KIVI NIRIA members from 29 - 31 May 2013.
- How are public transport tenders going in London?
- How are major Rail projects going on in London and the UK?
- How do travellers experience public transport in London?
- Does NetworkRail choose to apply ERTMS at Thameslink?
- Presentations and discussions on High Speed line 2, CrossRail, Blackfriars and ThamesLink
- Presentations by Abellio on the Greater London franchise and its procurement strategy.
- Viewing of major Rail projects in London.
- Demonstration of the simulation programme for ThamesLink

This activity is organised for members of Platform Rail Systems. There is a maximum number of participants of 25 people. If registration is full, you can apply for the reserve list via e-mail: saskiahouwing@kiviniria.nl. Available places will be allocated in order of receipt.
Wednesday 29 May
Trip to London (on your own). evening drinks.
Thursday 30 May
Morning: NetworkRail Project Thameslink.
One of the busiest hubs in the UK. 24 trains per hour and direction, with a peak load of 86 trains per hour. A conventional Signallling system with the option for ATO and ERTMS as an overlay system was chosen as the technical solution.
Presentations by Dave Weedon (Signalling) and Andy Uttley (Operations). Demonstration of simulation programme. Tour of project (Blackfriars, London Bridge and Borough Market)
Noon: Abellio Greater Anglia (GA). 3.000 employees, carry 2 mio passengers per week. Reception with lunch at Greater Anglia House. Presentations on structure of UK rail sector.
Evening: dinner.
Friday 31 May
Early afternoon: Project HS2 (High Speed Line 2), Phase 1 London Euston - Birmingham and Phase 2 Birmingham - Manchester (airport) and Birmingham - Leeds.
Afternoon: London's and Europe's largest infrastructure project 'CrossRail' in which several new railway lines are being built right through the heart of London.
16:00: End of programme - return journey.
