The timetable of the future
Description
In this session, two speakers will provide insight into the timetable of the future.
The first part will focus on the logistical planning process of a passenger carrier. The lecture will include answers to the following questions:
(1) How is a new timetable made?
(2) What elements are taken into account in the process?
(3) How are the corresponding equipment and staff plans made?
In answering the questions, the latest scientific insights will also be taken into account, providing an insight into the future planning process.
The second part will discuss the main substantive changes in the timetable over the coming decades. Questions that will be addressed include:
(1) Why do NS and ProRail choose a high-frequency timetable?
(2) Is a higher maximum speed important on Dutch railways?
(3) What is the relationship between the rail network and urban public transport networks?
The maximum number of tenders is 60. When this maximum is reached, further registrations will be placed on a waiting list, after contacting the organisation at the e-mail address below. Members will be given priority for registration. Settlement at the door, if applicable, is only possible if coordinated in advance with the organisation.
In 2017, KIVI Division of Rail Systems will celebrate 10 years. During 2017, various activities will focus on this anniversary, and a trip abroad will be organised. All regular activities, except for the foreign trip, will be offered free of charge to KIVI Division Railsystems members in 2017, and at reduced rates to non-members.
