Traffic and transport association in the Netherlands
KIVI is the professional association for higher educated engineers. More than 13,000 engineers have registered with this network. The Traffic and Transport Section, with over 600 members, is one of the most important associations in the traffic and transport field in the Netherlands.
The Traffic and Transport Section brings together professionals who work or have worked as traffic engineers in the field of traffic, transport and spatial development at knowledge institutions, consultants, transport companies, governments and in industry. The aim is to exchange knowledge and expertise on (new) methods for the analysis and prognosis of mobility, the design of roads, waterways and railways and traffic management.

Diverse exchange platform
With its members, the Traffic and Transport department occupies a special place among the other departments. Many KIVI members and other engineers are confronted with traffic or transport issues during their careers. Thus, the section has many specifically technical traffic and transport engineers, but also many members, who come into contact with traffic and transport engineering through their profession. This ensures a multitude of perspectives, which provides the department with a broad base. Partly as a result, it is an exchange platform between the experienced engineer and the specialised traffic or transport expert.

Evening lectures and excursions
The department regularly organises evening lectures or excursions covering the broad field of traffic engineering. To ensure the high quality of the lectures, much attention is paid to the complementarity of the contributions. The necessary space is reserved for discussion, which can be continued afterwards in an informal atmosphere over a sandwich and a drink. Everyone involved in the topic, including non-members, are welcome.
