On 18 April, the BNSP (Professional Association of Dutch Urban Designers and Planners) is organising a Design Challenge together with the Traffic and Transport Section of the KIVI (Royal Institute of Engineers).

Case study: Lunetten-Koningsweg

The number of people living and working in Utrecht is growing. To this end, additional centres (nodes) are being developed at various places in the city, partly to relieve the centre area.

In the southeast of the city, the Lunetten-Koningsweg area (between the rails) is being developed into such a new centre. The area combines living, working, good accessibility and other facilities.

Urban planning & Traffic engineering

Are you an urban planner or a traffic expert? Do you sometimes wonder about the other discipline? Seize this opportunity to sit down with them and work together on a design for this area.Will you help come up with concrete concepts in integrated teams? By designing together with the other discipline instead of side by side?

After an introduction to the case study, we will take up the challenge in mixed groups. In between, there will be room for a little conversation over a shared meal. We present the results of the battle to an expert jury from both disciplines and the relevant project team of the municipality of Utrecht and conclude with drinks.
