Description

In the late 1990s, the demonstration project High-quality Public Transport Eindhoven region was started. A concept devised by the business community in the region was the basis for this. With the help of various financial contributions, a completely new vehicle was developed and free bus lanes were constructed on the Eindhoven NS/Neckerspoel route to Eindhoven Airport with a branch to Veldhoven.
The free bus lanes were realised by Eindhoven and Veldhoven in the period up to 2004. The new vehicle, called the Phileas, appeared on the scene from then on.

It was deployed on a trial basis in the timetable on the route to Eindhoven Airport and Veldhoven. After a year of extensive testing and making various improvements, the Daily Board decided on 5 April 2006 not to purchase the Phileas, as it did not meet the requirements set out in the contract.
The Phileas was then converted. On 2 July 2008, APTS presented the first converted vehicle - Phileas II. Delivery of the first modified vehicles took place in December 2008.

During the discussion meeting, three speakers will discuss the public transport vision of the Eindhoven municipality and the place of the Phileas in it, the concept of the Phileas and vehicle technical aspects. There will be an opportunity for discussion and the meeting will conclude with a tour of the Phileas.
