DAF - Logistics focus
Description
On Wednesday 17 June 2009, we will visit DAF Trucks in Eindhoven. In its 80-year history, DAF Trucks has gained an excellent reputation in developing, producing, selling and maintaining leading transport equipment. DAF is the undisputed market leader in the Dutch truck market. Roughly one in three trucks registered here is a DAF. It is mainly in the light segment where this Dutch truck manufacturer aims to achieve further growth.
We already visited DAF Trucks in 2006, but unlike the programme during that earlier visit, the lecture will now focus on the logistics aspects of the manufacturing process, such as supply management and the internal logistics of parts, materials and waste to and from the production lines. In doing so, we hope to learn more about logistics organisation and control processes, logistics techniques applied, and the interaction of logistics with manufacturing processes
