Thialf - Heerema Marine Contractors
Description
The "Thialf" is Heerema Marine Contractors' largest DCV (deepwater construction vessel). The vessel has spectacular features, such as a tandem lifting capacity of 14,200 tonnes at a max lifting height of 95 m and a max bow depth of - 327 m relative to the working deck, a length overall of 201.6 m by a width of 88.4 m and a vessel capacity of 136,709 GRT. The vessel can accommodate 736 people, features a helicopter deck, diving system with diving bell, and powerful positioning and mooring systems.
The two cranes can both lower objects into deep water and place heavy loads such as top sides above water. This multifunctional deepwater work vessel is ideally suited for the installation of heavy foundations, mooring systems, SPARs, Tension Leg Platforms, integrated topsides, as well as pipelines and piping systems.
The vessel is currently in the port of Rotterdam for maintenance and the company Heerema Marine Contractors has offered KIVI NIRIA Transportkunde the opportunity to get acquainted with this amazing deepwater construction vessel with a maximum of 20 people on 20 January.
Given the time of sunset on 20 January, the programme will start a little earlier than usual. We will start the tour punctually at 15.00 hrs, after which Mr Geert-Jan van der Bent, deputy engineering manager, will give us a further explanation of Heerema Marine Contractors' activities in a presentation.
The programme will end between 17.30 and 18.00 hrs.
Catering options on board are limited, but hot coffee and tea will be provided regularly.
In view of the time of year and the height of the ship, we advise participants to dress warmly and bear in mind, when choosing clothing, that it may not be clean everywhere on a working vessel.
When registering, you should provide your ID number (valid passport, driving licence or identity card). If you wish, you must also be able to show this ID during the visit.
The Thialf is moored in the Calandkanaal near the Noordzeeweg (port numbers 5326-5377). There is ample on-site parking
