Wehkamp.co.uk
Wehkamp realises world's largest automated e-commerce logistics service centre (LSC) in Zwolle. Knapp is responsible for the automated warehouse system. René Wolters of Knapp explained the design and choice of this system, followed by a tour of the LSC. Then Andries van Daalen of RFS Holland Holding (Wehkamp's parent company) went into the how and why of the project. This tour ended with an interesting discussion. The LSC is scheduled to open in summer 2015. The invitation to repeat the excursion in a year's time will certainly be accepted.

Description
We would like to invite you on Wednesday 26 November 2014 to visit the largest automated e-commerce DC in the world, at wehkamp.nl.
Online purchasing is growing rapidly. Wehkamp.nl aims to efficiently grow with this trend with this new DC and further expand their market share.
The distribution centre will have almost 480,000 so-called 'pick locations' where 468 shuttle trains can pick up products. There will also be 8,000 pallet locations and 2.5 kilometres of racking for hanging goods. A total of 4 million items can soon be stored.
The maximum picking capacity of the system is 196,000 items per day, which amounts to 61 million items per year. René Wolters, managing director KNAPP Benelux: 'The amount of different items the system has to be able to handle in combination with the very short order throughput time is the challenge for us.' Austrian company KNAPP supplies the automated warehouse system. The centre will be realised at Hessenpoort industrial estate in Zwolle
