Description

40 years of passion for underground construction

The Tunnel Engineering and Underground Works Department TTOW, the professional association of passionate builders of underground structures, is celebrating its 40th anniversary!
Every reason to organise an anniversary symposium focusing on the engineer. This happening of stature is a co-production with CDE's annual technology symposium.

In 40 years, we have grown as professionals and the future demands even more. The social task and values of underground construction have changed. This requires different knowledge and skills. How does that come into its own in today's practice? Do the courses still match the ambitions of the future? How does today's engineer view the engineer of the past and vice versa? What does the changing role of client and contractor mean for the subsurface professional?

What's on offer?

During the plenary programme, we will look back on 40 years of KIVI TTOW and the debate (in which you will join in) will form an important part. Two major clients (Cees Brandsen of RWS and Patrick Buck of Prorail) will pitch their opinions on the engineer of the future. Who do they need? Markus Thewes (a.o. professor of Bochum University and VIce President of the International Tunnel Association) looks at the Dutch engineer as an export product. Are foreign countries still waiting for us or are we being overtaken by new experts from, for example, China?
You can also register for new questions raised by the CDE network, which will present themselves 'on the soapbox'. In addition, in the parallel programme, you can get up to speed on technical innovations, the best projects and the most relevant issues within one afternoon.
