Description

Technical tours de force and the latest construction works, you will experience it during the Projects Marathon. KIVI TTOW and COB's annual event will take you to places you are not normally allowed to go and there is plenty of opportunity for questions.

For many years, KIVI TTOW and COB have organised the Projects Marathon. A day when a number of underground construction projects open their doors especially for us. There are also guided tours and presentations by experts, so you can learn all about the technology behind the scenes. In addition, the day is an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues and exchange experiences. Or, on the contrary, let yourself - as a professional or student - be inspired by new ideas.

Edition 2017:
The programme for 2017 has been finalised! The Projects Marathon on Wednesday 11 October 2017 starts at Leiden City Hall. You are welcome from 9.00 am in the Citizens' Hall.

Download the flyer for the entire programme (link below).

We will visit the following projects on that day:

Garenmarkt
The parking garage under the Garenmarkt is now being built by the Combinatie parkeergarages Leiden Dura Vermeer - BESIX. The garage will be made in a large oval. With a compact parking garage, the image-defining trees near the Kruitschip will be preserved. A recognisable entrance pavilion will be built above ground. For the construction of the parking garage, account was taken of the fact that the building site is located in a historic inner-city area. During the construction of the parking garage, the most appropriate construction method for minimum environmental nuisance and the shortest construction time is mainly used. Construction of the parking garage will be completed in early 2020.

Lammermarkt
The Lammermarkt underground parking garage opened on 19 April this year. The parking garage was also built by Combinatie parkeergarages Leiden Dura Vermeer - BESIX. This garage has a cylindrical shape. The Lammermarkt is located at the edge of Leiden city centre and is known as the location of the annual fair during Leidens ontzet. A characteristic feature of the Lammermarkt is the presence of the mill De Valk from 1743. The garage has a diameter of about 60 metres and consists of seven parking levels with the deepest level at NAP -22.5 m, making it the deepest car park in the Netherlands.

Maastunnel
The Maastunnel is currently being renovated. The tunnel tube from north to south is closed. There are two main reasons why the Maas Tunnel now needs to be renovated quickly. Firstly, the driving floor and subfloor have deteriorated over 75 years due to chlorides from road salt. In addition, the tunnel must meet current tunnel safety requirements. In Rotterdam, we are allowed to walk in the tunnel on rare occasions. This is a unique opportunity!

IMPORTANT: You will need safety shoes with steel noses to visit the Maas Tunnel. A helmet and vest will be provided. In addition, you must bring your ID (ID card/passport/driving licence). Please fill in your ID no. when registering.

You must be physically able to walk from one project to the other (1.5 km) which also involves climbing several narrow steep stairs. Please bear this in mind!

Please note that only 40 people can participate in the Projects Marathon and full=full.
