Projects marathon 2019
MAXIMUM NUMBER REACHED, REGISTRATION NO LONGER POSSIBLE
Technical marvels and the latest construction works, you will experience it during the Projects Marathon. KIVI TTOW and COB's annual event will take you to places you are not normally allowed to go and there will be plenty of opportunity for questions.
For many years, KIVI TTOW and COB have organised the Projects Marathon. A day when a number of underground construction projects open their doors especially for us. There are also guided tours and presentations by experts, so you can learn all about the technology behind the scenes. In addition, the day is an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues and exchange experiences. Or, on the contrary, let yourself - as a professional or student - be inspired to new ideas.
Edition 2019:
The programme for 2019 has been finalised! The Projects Marathon on Wednesday 20 March 2019, starts at Bijlmer Station in Amsterdam. The bus leaves at 8.15 am from this station to the Gaasperdammertunnel.
Download the flyer for the entire programme (via the button at the bottom right).
We will visit the following projects that day:
Gaasperdammertunnel
On the south side of Amsterdam, the Gaasperdammertunnel will be built. As part of the Schiphol-Amsterdam-Almere (SAA) road extension, the A9 between Holendrecht and Diemen will be widened to five lanes per direction of travel and a changing lane. The road will come in a three-kilometre-long tunnel, with a park on top connecting the neighbourhoods in Amsterdam Zuidoost. Although much remains to be done, there is already a lot to see. You will walk through the tunnel and see how the finishing work is progressing.
Schiphol tunnels
The Buitenveldert tunnel for buses and the adjacent service tunnel on the Schiphol grounds are being rebuilt into a single tunnel system in which all traffic travels in the same direction per tunnel tube. The concrete renovation of the Buitenveldert Tunnel was completed at the end of 2017. Work on the tunnel technical installations started in March 2018. Work includes new lighting, public address systems, fans, fire extinguishing systems and escape routes. All these systems will be connected to a new control system. During the tour, we visit one of the four tunnel tubes. The accompanying film gives an impression of the objectives of the Schiphol Tunnel Safety Project.
Contractor for this is the combination Vialis / VolkerRail. https://youtu.be/RbO0alpyQ9E
RijnlandRoute
The RijnlandRoute is a new road between Katwijk, via the A44, to the A4 near Leiden. An important part is the approximately 2.5-kilometre-long bored tunnel that will be built under Voorschoten and the Rijn-Schie Canal (the Vliet). The tunnel will consist of two tubes (one for each direction of traffic) with two lanes each. Drilling of the tunnel is expected to start at the end of June 2019. From April, the tunnel boring machine will be built up. It was specially designed and built for this project. You will be given a tour of the construction site of the N434 tunnel ramp, with the starting shaft for the tunnel boring machine.
Dinner
The subsequent dinner will take place at restaurant Pavarotti in Delft near Delft railway station, from where you can travel back on your own (around 20:30).
IMPORTANT: You will need safety shoes with steel toe caps for visiting the projects. A helmet and vest will be provided. If you are in possession of a helmet, vest and trousers, please bring them yourself (they are not sufficiently available at the Schiphol Tunnel). You should also bring your ID (ID card/passport/driving licence). You must fill in your ID number when registering.
