Hydrogen in vehicles
Description
The application of hydrogen as an energy source for vehicles is a nice and above all clean solution to the range problem of electrically powered vehicles. At HAN we are also experimenting with hydrogen in a combustion engine.
Hydrogen, however, has many difficulties when you actually start using it. We now have quite a bit of experience in solving those problems and can proudly show a number of working prototype vehicles. The latest is a Fiat Doblo, which was built as part of an extensive knowledge worker project with students, teachers, research staff and PDE employees. The Fiat is currently running a field test for the municipality of Arnhem. You can also see how we converted a Subaru to burn hydrogen in the internal combustion engine. We will start the evening with an introductory lecture on the technology behind fuel cells in which hydrogen is converted to electricity. The lecture will cover the basic principles, but will also go into tricky regulatory aspects of this application. Here, Silent Motor Company will lend its cooperation. All in all, a great opportunity to experience our institute's research work in cooperation with industry and to keep abreast of the latest developments
