Challenge sustainability
Description
Smart sustainability
'Sustainable' and 'smart' increasingly coincide, think smart energy grids, biosensors for medication and smart highways. The use of smart technology contributes significantly to quality of life, energy saving and safety. Connecting everything together via the internet makes it easier to avoid waste, share knowledge and make chains transparent.
A characteristic of the smart development is that digital technology, sensors, analysis software and the physical world are becoming intimately intertwined. More and more devices, vehicles, buildings and even garments, plants and animals have their own ip address. In the 'internet of things', information is constantly available that can be analysed in real time.
How smart are you?
These far-reaching technological developments offer plenty of opportunities for sustainability. And for the engineering profession. What challenges do you see in the industry or field you work in? And how could the smart sustainability trend provide a solution? What new application or revenue model can you, as a Young Professional, put forward to further develop sustainable innovation within your organisation?
We will work on these questions in groups during Challenge de Duurzaamheid. At the end of the workshop, you and your group will present the Smart Sustainability Pitch. The best group will win a spot on stage during the KIVI annual conference on 24 November.
