Stories from the field where technical issues went just a little differently than expected. Periodically, we engage with engineers from different disciplines who talk about obstacles, how they overcame them and what was learned from them.

For our first edition of Failure Stories, we engage with Jos Blom of Koolen Industries. With a track record in Biology, IT and Energy, Jos spent 11 years at Alliander working on the strategy and innovation of one of the largest utility companies in the Netherlands.

Since 2 years, Jos switched to Koolen industries, founded by Kees Koolen, one of the founders of Booking.com. Koolen industries is a group of companies that are widely engaged in providing integrated energy solutions for all.

Jos comes to tell us about Sint Maartensvlotbrug, a location where Alliander installed a battery to create a role for grid operators in energy storage.

A lot of innovation, but where were the pitfalls? Jos Blom will talk to us about it.
