On Tuesday evening, 8 September, seven young engineers gathered for the YKE Development Programme at KIVI in The Hague. Under the guidance of Mathijs Verhoev (YKE), the participants set to work on their personal and professional development.
The YKE Growth Programme is aimed at young engineers who wish to gain a better understanding of their strengths, ambitions and opportunities for development. The programme focuses on two key areas: exploring one’s own role as an engineer and one’s skills, and drawing up a Personal Development Plan (PDP).
Insight as the basis for growth
During the first part of the programme, participants used the PREFER test to gain insight into the engineering role that best suits them. They then looked at the skills that are important for this role and where further development is possible.
These insights formed the basis for the second part of the evening, during which the participants discussed their ambitions and the steps needed to achieve them. They then worked on their own PDPs.
The aim is not only to give participants an understanding of where they currently stand, but above all to offer them practical guidance for their next step as an engineer.
A motivated group
Seven engineers took part in the programme:
Pepijn Marcus, Thomas van Polen, John Kroes, Margriet Klinkhamers and Nadine van Westerop, Henry Verhoeff and Dorothé Ruys. The evening was led by Mathijs Verhoev (YKE).
