Franssen Artisanal Syrup Distillery
Description
Saturday afternoon, 27 September, we will visit the Franssen family's traditional syrup distillery in Ter Maar, municipality of Klimmen.
Hans and Julienne Franssen started making traditional pear/apple syrup in 1991 based on fruit from their own standard orchard. In the months of September and October, they fire up their syrup boiler several times to prepare fresh pear/apple syrup using their own recipe. We will get to see part of the syrup-making process, while receiving expert explanations about the entire process of syrup-making.
The Franssen family participates in the Slow Food Presidium of Limburg Syrup with their syrup-making.
